52 photos of quotes from famous poets, both living and dead
Quote of the Week helps to strengthen and maintain skills for speaking, listening, inferring, critical thinking, communication, descriptive language, storytelling, vocabulary and imagination. Each quote is from a poet, both living and dead.
There are no right or wrong answers so that the participant can express what they believe each quote means, while using their background knowledge and vocabulary to be as descriptive as possible. Quote of the week is a great activity to start an exciting conversation with both the young and the old.
You may choose to display each quote on a designated day of the week on a projector or from a computer/tablet for a better view. If you project the quote onto a board, you would be able to circle or underline details to prove an idea or observation. As a whole group you may choose to have an open discussion.
For small group or individual use you may choose to print off each quote and place into a binder using sheet protectors or laminate each quote for close observations and easy handling. You may use a tablet or computer, if printing is not an option to display each quote.
Use the included guide for discussions, viewing works of the poet, to lead a writing prompt, or art activity. This activity can be completed by individuals with a mild to moderate form of dementia, as well as, those who may be deaf, blind, or mute.
